Monique Bourgeois, MPNA, LADC
Chief Community Relations OfficerMonique Bourgeois has worked in the addiction-recovery field for over 25 years in a variety of capacities including: adolescent substance use disorder treatment, public school chemical health specialist, Executive Director of the Association of Recovery Schools and as the Director of Volunteers & Training at Minnesota Recovery Connection. Ms. Bourgeois has trained hundreds of members of the recovery community in peer-based support, has developed, and implemented peer-based support programs and been a member of multiple leadership teams. Currently, in her role as NUWAY Alliance’s Chief Community Relations Officer, she leads the community relations and public policy teams. Ms. Bourgeois holds a Master’s in Public and Non-profit Administration, a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology with a minor in Communications and is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Minnesota. She is a graduate of the Addiction Technology Transfer Center’s Leadership Institute, published in the 2007 Journal of Groups in Addiction & Recovery (JGAR) and In My Own Words…Celebrating Students’ Stories of Recovery… (2009). Additionally, Ms. Bourgeois has been a peer reviewer for JGAR and in 2012, Ms. Bourgeois was selected as a faculty for the Betty Ford Institute’s Consensus Conference on identifying and disseminating successful Recovery Support Services strategies. She is on the St. Cloud State University Recovery Community Advisory Council and is passionate about helping individuals seeking recovery access it.
