NUWAY Alliance Chief Community Relations Officer Monique Bourgeois, MPNA, LADC, and Chief Clinical Officer Ken Roberts, MPS, MPCC, LADC, were interviewed by Post Bulleting reporter Jeff Kiger about the relocation of NUWAY — Rochester Counseling Center. NUWAY Alliance sought a new home for the program, which helps 70 clients daily since plans were announced to demolish the center’s current location to make way for an apartment building.
In what Ken Roberts calls a “win for both our clinicians and for the population that we serve,” NUWAY will colocate the Rochester Counseling Center in an unused Sunday School building St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 1884 22nd St. NW. Natural synergies exist between the nonprofit missions of NUWAY and the church and church rector Rev. Justin Chapman asserts that “we were looking for additional ways to make revenue and we realized that a huge portion of our building was totally empty and unused for the vast majority of the week.” NUWAY expects to welcome clients at the new facility in June.
